The Birch River is one of Manitoba's best kept secrets. Only a stone's throw from the Trans-Canada Highway near Prawda, this little river is almost unknown in paddling circles. The 20 or so Class I and II rapids on this section are easier than they look, and by the end of the day you will be shooting rapids like a pro.
Sandhill cranes and fisher have been sighted up close on this stretch of river.
